Engineering Design Portfolio
RF Surgical Probe and Procedure
Device Purpose
Next generation RF powered surgical aesthetic treatment
Device Features
New aesthetic surgical procedure based on existing treatment
Specific use information under NDA
New procedure and accompanying hand piece allows treatment at 2x traditional speed
Fractionated RF power algorithms allow close loop control of RF and automatically adjustable and patient specific treatment
My key contributions
Team guidance and individual contribution of both mechanical and electrical development of new hand piece
R&D bench testing of analog tissue flow, electrical/plasma effects, impedance characteristics
Industrial design, usability, heat mitigation scheme, design for manufacturing input
Fractionated RF power algorithm development, close loop impedance logic and system limitation management
Leadership of engineering test strategy and testing of all prototype devices on human tissue in both in-vivo and ex-vivo
Iterative testing on over 100 prototypes with surgical key opinion leaders. Directed team compiling data and making design changes
Tissue affects due to heat, plasma, RF energy, etc
Initial clinical prototypes used in-vivo
Clinical ex-vivo testing with prototype system
Clinical ex-vivo testing focusing on thermal and electrical analysis
